IHG Trade Show, Las Vegas
Description | For this project I composed and rendered a series of background plates of the Holiday Inn Great Room concept space, to be projected onto multiple angled surfaces (see project details below). I also created all 3D character animation, basically a series of motion-capture-driven animations of individuals and groups, camera-matched to the background plates. PROJECT DETAILS In 2011 Continuum worked with Holiday Inn Express to redesign the touchpoints and spaces making up the Great Room area of the hotel. For their annual conference in Las Vegas, IHG (the parent company of Holiday Inn), asked Continuum to develop an exciting and immersive experience that told the Great Room story. The design utilized the conference booth as a “stage” on which to project guests in motion, actively benefiting from the redesigned spaces and touchpoints. Sophisticated mapping techniques were used to project content from four projectors onto multiple angled surfaces. The goal of the experience was to help the audience understand the value of the updated Great Room - a place where the guest is always welcome, that provides the knowledge guests need to get on their way, and one that offers easy access to everything they need on the road. This story was told through a series of vignettes utilizing 3D rendered stills, character animation, 2D motion graphics and video. These vignettes illustrated the mindsets and actions of four different customer archetypes -- Road Warrior, Working Parent, Traveling Group and Vacationing Family – as experienced through a set of four “Guest Modes”. |
