BBVA Roadshow
Description | For this project I designed an iPad “touch surface remote control” application that triggered a variety of media content (video clips, slide sequences etc.) running on seven separate remote computers (one PC and six Mac Mini systems). The app sent OSC messages over Wi-Fi to the Isadora real-time media manipulation software running on the various remote systems. PROJECT DETAILS In 2011 BBVA asked Continuum to create a modular and transportable exhibition version of the Bank of the Future prototype. The goal was to help the company communicate their vision for the Bank of the Future to areas beyond the BBVA Innovation Center in Madrid, and introduce that vision to potential new markets. We needed to capture the rich experience of attending a demo at the Innovation Center, and package it to be taken on the road and quickly set up on-site (and equally quickly broken down and shipped to the next location). The traveling system exactly replicates the physical touch points (e.g. ATM, POS system, touch-table) in the actual prototype at the Innovation Center, including the way each touch point communicates with a central server via web services. To illustrate the four locations where the customer personas experience the Bank of the Future (Home, Retail Partner, Easy Bank and Flagship) we created curved photo-printed walls using renderings of the spaces, with a dedicated section of the wall defined as a projection surface. During a presentation, video and image content is projected onto that part of the wall to tell the story of that particular customer journey. My role in the project was to ensure the various touch point content communicated properly with the central server, including the two iPhone apps that I had written for the original prototype project. I also developed the show control system, comprising:
The first three images show renderings of the proposed layout, while the fourth and fifth images show two views of the actual system set up. Several touch points are visible, as is a typical projection setup and the curved screens being projected onto. The final image is a screenshot of the interface I developed for the show-control system described above. |
